"The Avengers was the first movie that I shot digitally. Fortunately, shooting ARRIRAW with the
combination of ARRI Alexa cameras and Codex Onboard Recorders made the transition easy. Everything worked flawlessly and the images look amazing." "I love Codex"
Seamus McGarvey, ASC, BSC
Claudio Miranda, ASC
"Riddick is an action movie set on a distant planet where hostile conditions exist. Meaning we had sand storms and rain storms at times. We encountered zero events to report about either situation including being on the Technocrane under water all bagged up with very little ventilation possible for long stretches at times. It never failed, never shut off, never lost any data under very humid and hot temperatures. The same for the sand storms where both the camera and the Codex recorder performed without any glitch."
David Eggby, ACS
"Taking my images to extremes is what inspires me as a cinematographer and the last time I used the Codex S recorder it was traveling at 160mph at 12,000 feet falling from the skies in the Swiss Alps. Compact, lightweight, and obviously built like a brick house."
Shane Hurlbut, ASC
"I have used Codex systems on many films over many years and I have to say there is always great reliability and great support."
Michael Taylor, Supervising Digital Engineer
"Codex is ARRI's supplier of choice for premium uncompressed, uncompromised ARRIRAW recording and workflow solutions for the ALEXA family; the Codex Vault is a unique and essential new ingredient for secure digital cinema data management and a valuable part of the ARRIRAW workflow"
"It gave us an elegant, turnkey system to capture, process and archive. It allowed us to capture a very, very high resolution image. We had the perfect tools to make this movie."
James Dodson, Producer
"Once you are familiar with the Codex system, it is very easy to use. It is ergonomically designed and robustly built. For the war film World War Z , we carried nine Codex Onboards across the ocean with great success."
Gregor Tavenner, 1st AC
“The Vault was perfect for this production, because it allowed us to remain small scale. Normally on a digital feature, you have lots of equipment that adds lots of weight to the camera truck, but here all that was reduced to a single, compact machine.”
