The Codex product line

The Codex workflow is an end-to-end, camera-to-post system that makes production easier and more efficient than ever before.

What’s in the product line?

We produce a range of systems which provide differing degrees of functionality depending on the required application – recording, transfer, or final delivery and archival.

Recording systems

Onboard - is the start of your tapeless workflow. The Codex Onboard can record anything from HD for television, to the highest quality digital cinematography cameras. It can be mounted directly on a wide range of camera systems.

Transfer and delivery systems

We manufacture several products for transfer, delivery, and archival, all of which are centred around the Codex Base Unit. The Base Unit provides the processing power and networking capabilities for the generation of deliverables, finishing files, and files for archival. The range has been designed to allow huge flexibility so that productions can specify the right system features to achieve an optimal workflow. The systems in the range are:

Transfer Station for Mac OS X - The Codex Transfer Station for Mac OS X is the hub of your file-based workflow. It can be easily configured to automatically provide a full set of deliverables – everything you need for your production and post, from viewing copies to archives. And it can produce them all in less time than traditional systems take to make a single copy.

Digital Lab 2 - Portable Datapacks can be loaded into the Digital Lab 2 for the generation and archival of files. Optional features include in-built LTO4 drives for simple archival and a 9-Terabyte RAID-3 Internal Datapack which allows for around 35 hours of material to be kept online.

Digital Lab 3 - is designed as the hub of a digital production, and comes as a fully stacked system comprising the Base Unit and Disk Bays, for our Portable and Studio Recorder Datapacks. The Lab can generate files, archive to LTO tape, ingest material, conform to and from digital tape, plus many other features.

Datapacks

Material recorded onto Codex systems is stored on secure, RAID protected Datapacks.
